چکیده

Background: The assessment of voice quality can be evaluated perceptually with standard clinical practice, also including acoustic evaluation digital recordings to validate and further interpret perceptual judgments. goal the present study was determine strongest parameters for perceived hoarseness breathiness when analyzing sustained vowel [a:] using a new tool, VOXplot software. Methods: A total 218 samples individuals without disorders were applied analyses. Overall, 13 single included validity aspects in relation perceptions breathiness. Results: Four measures could clearly associated or For hoarseness, harmonics-to-noise ratio (HNR) pitch perturbation quotient smoothing factor five periods (PPQ5), and, breathiness, smoothed cepstral peak prominence (CPPS) glottal-to-noise excitation (GNE) shown highly valid, significant difference being demonstrated each other aspects. Conclusions: Two measures, HNR PPQ5, both strongly able discriminate from good confidence. CPPS GNE,

Advances in the meta-analysis of heterogeneous clinical trials II: The quality effects model.

This article examines the performance of the updated quality effects (QE) estimator for meta-analysis of heterogeneous studies. It is shown that this approach leads to a decreased mean squared error (MSE) of the estimator while maintaining the nominal level of coverage probability of the confidence interval. Extensive simulation studies confirm that this approach leads to the maintenance of the...
